Ski-ing

March 17, 2009

This week the primary 7s have been away ski-ing at Aviemore.

We left on Monday and stayed at our accommodation for the night. Then in the morning we went to school to do a kit check. When we had got that out of the way we got our break. We got in the cars and left for Loch Insh(the ski-ing accommodation.)

We stopped a couple of times on the way for lunch. When we finally got there we relaxed and ate dinner and the ski instructor told us about what we would be doing the next day and what we would need for ski-ing.

After that we watched t.v and went to bed.  The next day we had breakfast and made our lunch and drove to the ski slopes. When we got there we went ski-ing, it was quite good snow but there was a lot of wind so it wasn’t as good as it could have been. By the end of the day we were shattered.

When we woke the next day we went to the slopes again and had some quite  good ski-ing but it was windier and we couldn’t go to the top of the mountain. So we went lower down. But it was icy and it was still good fun.The very same day we headed back to Arisaig and got back at around 7 o’clock,  had dinner and went to bed.

The next day we got on the boat and went home to Muck to find we were doing things for Comic Relief so the rest of the school day was dedicated to eating cakes, singing and giving donations. That was fun too(I ate too many cakes) Bye for now.

Funny For Money O’9

March 16, 2009

All of us singing.

All of us singing.

On Friday 13th March we all went mad and wore our pyjamas to school (it was a once in a lifetime chance so we all wore them!) All of this madness was in aid of Comic Relief the huge yearly charity event. Previously all the younger ones had been baking all kinds of yummy cakes and biscuits for the 2′o clock Teddy Bears Picnic. We all donated money (including the grown ups!) to be able to come to the scrumptious tea party, everyone bought a teddy, some large some small all different colours!

We all sang songs we had been learning, along with some mad actions! Everyone seemed to enjoy the picnic and thanks to everyones kind support and donations we managed to raise an amazing total of £75  (which is a lot for such a small place!) We all had great fun wearing our red noses, doing gym in our pyjamas, having a teddy bears picnic and just being silly!

A teddy bear’s picnic at the school

March 16, 2009

Hello again we have just had a teddy bears picnic at school and I am bursting with cakes and cookies. On Friday last week it was Comic Relief  “do something funny for money” and that is  just what we did we raised money(and lots of it at that). We had a teddy bears picnic with buns and cakes we had made on the Wednesday before and they were all delicious.

We all were given red noses with faces on them and they were all really funny and they made your voice change. It was a great success and really got us thinking about what we could do to help Comic Relief in the future. And we raised a whopping £75.00.

Today is Red Nose Day.

We have all come to school in our pyjamas (there is a picture of us all up at the top)! It is very strange coming to school in pyjamas – it seems like we have not got dressed and are being naughty! We”ve never had to put our wellies and waterproofs on over our pyjamas before! It was strange…
Later on today we are going to have a teddy bears’ picnic, everyone is invited but they don’t all have to wear their pyjamas! We have cakes and biscuits that we cooked on Wednesday at After School Club. We enjoyed baking and there are some pictures of us in action at the top of this page.
We made lemon fairy cakes (Edward is licking his lips!), nut porridgies (a bit like Katie Morag’s), chocolate chip cookies and flapjacks. We are looking forward to eating them and having our tea party. We are also going to be singing a few songs, Chocolate Molinillo (a Spanish song all about the whisk to make hot chocolate), Consider Yourself from Oliver which has lots of actions and lastly Under The Sea from The Little Mermaid.
We think it is going to be a very fun afternoon.

Homonyms…

March 12, 2009
Homonym art!

Homonyms are words with the same form (sound, spelling or both)

but a different meaning.

We studied words which sound the same but look different – these

are called homophones.
An example would be tale and tail.

We also looked at words which look the same but sound different -

these are homographs. Wind is an example of this – the thing that

blows and what you do with a watch!
Homophones and homographs are both types of homonym.

We drew pictures of our different homonyms.

We put our pictures into a bag of tricks. like the character in our

folk tale had. He was a con-man who was able to trick people.

Homonyms can be tricky so we put them in special “bags of

trickiness”!
